Malmaison
Background
Malmaison are a chain of boutique hotels acclaimed for their service and luxury. They challenged us to increase the online revenue earned at their Reading location from website bookings.
Challenge
Malmaison Reading lagged behind in SERPs (search engine page results), positioned on the 4th page of Google for the following key search terms:
- Hotel in Reading
- Hotels in Reading
- Luxury Hotel Reading
- Hotel Reading
- Hotels Reading
Potential customers were searching for these key terms over 70,000 times each month, but Malmaison were not receiving any online revenue because of their underperforming rankings on the top search engines.
Solution
In October 2008, Halpern Cowan began a strategic link building operation to position Malmaison Reading on the first SERP for specific key search terms. This included building anchor text links from high quality and relevant websites and building sponsored links to improve Malmaison's online reputation.
Results
Malmaison Reading is currently positioned on the 1st page of major search engines for all targeted key search terms, including #1 for ‘luxury hotels reading' and ‘hotels reading' Traffic has increased to the site by 50% for customers who are searching for these terms.
