De Vere

Background

De Vere are a group of resorts, hotels and meeting venues established throughout England and Scotland. They set us the goal of increasing revenue over the Christmas season from bookings made on their website.

Challenge

De Vere was positioned on the 7th page of Google for the following key search terms:

  • Christmas Hotels
  • Christmas Hotel
  • Hotels for Christmas
  • Hotel for Christmas

These key search terms generate on average over 80,000 searches during the Christmas period. Because of their unfavourable search engine placement, De Vere were not receiving any online revenue from customers searching for these terms.

Solution

Halpern Cowan created a special Christmas site for De Vere and began a strategic link building campaign at the end of November 2008 to position De Vere Christmas on the first SERP for the specific key search terms. Our plan included building anchor text links from high quality and relevant websites, and building sponsored links to improve De Vere's online reputation.

Results

De Vere Christmas is currently positioned on the 1st page of major search engines for all targeted key search terms, and is #1 for ‘Christmas Hotel' and ‘Christmas Hotels'. Traffic and bookings made on site have increased by 20%, generating an increase in revenue of 22%.
